I’m a big proponent of doing a self-care day. Having to working every other weekend myself care day isn’t necessarily a Saturday. This week I had Monday night off in a stretch of working night shift so I stayed awake all night and decided to use that time to do a face and hair mask since it was something I could do relatively quietly, trying to not wake my roommate.
After making and applying my masks I drew a bath and added baking soda, epsom salt and some jojoba oil with a few drops of balance essential oil for a relaxing bath while my skin and hair soaked in these masks.
Clay Face Mask:
1 tbsp bentonite clay
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1-2 drops each frankincense and lavender essential oil (feel free to explore and use other essential oils, lavender and frank are great for the skin and very calming to the skin, they’re my number one choice for my skin care products).
Mix ingredients together and apply to face, avoiding eyes and let sit for 20-30 mins. Wash off with warm water. I found using a wash cloth really helped to wipe it off.
Coconut Oil Hair Mask:
2 tbsp Coconut oil
1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
1 tbsp Honey
1-2 drops of Rosemary or Lavender essential oil (or both)
Soften Coconut oil then mix in other ingredients and apply to dry hair. I recommend dividing your hair into sections to apply so it thoroughly coats all of your hair. Let sit for at least 30 mins. Shampoo and condition like normal afterwards.
Each of these recipes makes enough for just one use.
