This morning I woke up on a rocky side of the bed. I was restless in my sleep last night and have been feeling a little more anxious than normal last night and this morning. So naturally, I’m grabbing my oils. In my diffuser I’ve got a “happy vibes” blend running. This consists of 3 drops of tangerine, 2 drops of lavender, 1 drop of spearmint, 1 drop of lime. This is a very light cheery diffuser blend. The citrus of tangerine and lime are very uplifting, as are all citrus oils. Lavender is soothing to this anxious girl’s heart and spearmint is awakening and has me dreaming of warm, summer days. Then I put 2 drops of balance on the bottom of my feet. Balance is a grounding blend. It’s sweet and woodsy and is my go to when I’m anxious. And lastly, I rolled some magnolia on my chest, back of my neck and wrists. This sweet floral oil calms my anxiety every time I use it. Within minutes of smelling this sweet gem my shoulders start to relax and my jaw releases. It’s truly amazing, and even after a year of using these oils daily I’m surprised at how powerful and fast aromatherapy can impact how I’m feeling. Y’all, I’m gonna be real honest this morning. I have been struggling a lot with feeling good in my body. I spent 4 mos working my butt off, literally. Eating good, healthy, nutritious and delicious food. I worked out more consistently than I have since I quite high school sports. I was the lightest weight I’ve been since probably high school and I was in a smaller pant size. But most of all I FELT SO GOOD. Then, I went on vacation. I ate whatever I wanted for 2 weeks. Mind you, we were eating out as I was living that hotel life. And I was celebrating with my boyfriend. I came back to Ohio and felt like shit. I’d gained every pound back that I’d lost and I’d gained an inch around my waist. I felt bloated and nauseous. I had no energy. I genuinely felt like crap. But the biggest struggle has been my mind. I have been beating myself up so much for gaining those pounds and an inch back. Which is absolutely ridiculous, and I know it. But the mind is a dark and dangerous place sometimes. But today I had a victory moment and that’s what I want to share. I felt so strong after my workout. I felt empowered. I felt like I could conquer the world. And it’s truly a gift. Because the thing is, the number on the scale is just that - a number. The number on a tape measure is just that - a number. Is seeing those numbers drop rewarding? Absolutely. But what’s more important is how you feel! Do you feel strong? Do you feel confident? Do you have more energy? Are you sleeping better? Is your anxiety more under control? These are the reasons I make time to exercise. These are the reasons I choose to be aware of what I’m eating and how the food I choose nourishes my body. Here’s to the victory moments! Beautiful girl, you can do amazing things.
